Page related to Prophet removed from Facebook

Reports are that the person who created a page related to Prophet Mohammad has removed from the social networking website Facebook. Due to this page only Facebook was banned in Pakistan stating it derogatory to Islam.

Facebook on Saturday said that it has not taken any action against this page. The page had attracted around 1 lakh people. On this page people were motivated to post the pictures of Prophet Mohammad on the basis of freedom of expression.

Most of the Mohammedans feel that portraying of Mohammad is anti Islamic. Prior to this, Nazibullah Malik (Secretary, Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Pakistan) said on Saturday that after the orders of court he had to ban Facebook in the country. He said that we knew that many people were getting affected by this ban, but we have to respect the decisions of court.

Pakistan said that the ban on Facebook and other social networking sites will be lifted if only anti Islamic content would be completely removed from them.

Facebook's page 'Everybody draw Mohammad Day' announced Friday as 'Draw Mohammad Day'. Therefore, it is possible that after the completion of objective the page would be removed from the site by its creator. After the ban on Facebook on Pakistan, links related to Wikipedia and Flicker was also not opening in the country.

It is not the first time that the Muslim community has protested on the portrayal of Prophet Mohammad. Prior to this, revolts were at their high after publication of cartoon of Mohammad in a newspaper of Denmark.
