Washington, D.C. - House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi issued the following statement yesterday in response to the publication of cartoons of the Prophet Muhammad:
"The cartoons were offensive to all people of faith, especially the millions of peace-loving Muslims who practice their faith in a nonviolent manner every day.
"Responsibility is inherent in free expression; however, grievances, no matter how deeply felt, are no justification for violence."
