ISCC Strongly Condemns the Danish Government’s and Media Aggression Against Muslims
Danish Government must Apologies to Muslims
Calgary) The Islamic Supreme Council of Canada strongly condemns the insulting, humiliating and racist cartoons published in Danish newspapers. ISCC strongly condemns the Danish government’s arrogance and support for the racism against Danish Muslims.
The freedom of expression does not mean that the media or the people start insulting and humiliating fellow citizens. In Denmark and Norway, under the patronage of their governments, the media is creating hate against Muslims by insulting the Prophet of Islam. Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) is our honour and identity. We Muslim will defend the hounours of our religion, our holy book, Qur’an and our beloved, Muhammad (peace be upon him). Muslims will not allow people to humiliate them in the name of freedom of expression. We respect the beliefs and the heroes of other religions and we expect the same from the followers of the other religions or ideologies.
ISCC urges all Muslim countries to review their trading relationships with Denmark and Norway and if the governments of these countries continue backing the racist media then the Muslim governments have every right to find the alternatives and boycott the Danish and Norwegian products.
ISCC strongly condemns the recent threat made by EU Trade Commissioner Peter Mandelson in which he said that he will go to WTO against those governments who will boycott Danish products. Mr. Mandelson, instead of threatening Muslim countries, should ask Denmark’s government not to encourage racism and hate against Muslims in Denmark and apologies to Muslims.
